Paid training in our Academy
Recruit Starting Pay: $51,379
New recruits have the opportunity to start months prior to the start of their police academy by participating in our Pre-Academy Preparation Program. During the program, recruits are full-time employees earning a salary, contributing to retirement, and have full benefits. Recruits participating are introduced to various topics that will be covered in the Durham Police Academy and receive mentorship from officers to help them adjust to the academic and physical standards that will be expected of them.

- Maximum Salary Match: Up to $73,460
- Top Pay for Officers: $89,291
- Top Pay for Senior Patrol Officers/Investigators: $105,578
- Hiring Bonus: $10,000
- Relocation Bonus - Up to $3000
- Paid training while in the police academy, Recruit Salary $51,379.
- 2.5% education incentive pay for Associate Degree
- 5.0% education incentive pay for Bachelor Degree
- Tuition Reimbursement per fiscal years: $2,500 for graduate courses, $1,500 for undergraduate courses, $750 for certifications.
